    Neighborhood

This single family waterfront cottage is located in Eastham in an area of other single family residences. This Cape Cod neighborhood is quiet and family oriented. Though there are many shops and restaurants in Eastham and in the nearby towns of Wellfleet and Orleans the built up areas of Eastham are mostly residential.

The cottage is located directly on Kingsbury Beach, Cape Cod Bay. There is a private path which leads from the back deck of the cottage to the sandy beach. The beach consists of fine sand. The water is usually comfortably warm; the waves are usually gentle and suitable for swimming—even for the young or non expert swimmer.  The floor of the bay near the shoreline slopes out very gently and there is usually no dramatic under water drop off or undertows. In general the beaches along Cape Cod Bay are considered family beaches. There is no parking at Kingsbury Beach. People at the beach usually are staying at shore front homes or walk in from the surrounding neighborhood. The beaches on Cape Cod Bay are tidal. When the tide is low at Kingsbury Beach it is possible to swim at Great Pond which is an easy walk from the cottage or swim at Eastham’s eastern shore which is home to the Atlantic Ocean beaches in the Cape cod National Seashore.

Much of Eastham is not built up and is part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. A short drive from the cottage is Salt Pond Visitor Center, the main National Seashore Visitors Center. This center contains a museum and bookstore and presents orientation movies. Park Rangers are available to help you plan your visits to the National Seashore and lead guided tours and other events at the Cape Cod National Seashore.

The Cape Cod Rail Trail-a bicycle trail built on the path of a former rail road line-- passes through Eastham and is easily reached from the cottage.
